Through out this first semester I have been late once but I have missed multiple classes due to babysitting my brother because my dad isn't home until 8 and my mom would leave the house around 2:30 to head to work. I knew with the new bell schedule this would interfere with my period 5 class but that is why I discussed this with Mr. Neuf in the beginning of the year. My parents tried talking to the principal but unfortunately they could not do anything about the situation since communications is only in period 5. Other times which have been 3-4 I have left due to my work scheduling but I have discussed the manager school comes first therefor, I am only available starting at 5. Besides the attendance situation whatever I have missed that day I look on the website and complete or if I don't understand the assignment I leave it off due it to the best of my ability and ask the teacher or my friend to explain to my understanding. Whenever we have an assignment I always due it to the best of my ability, I put all my effort, and re read it over just in case I have any grammar mistakes. In class I rarely am talkative, I talk.. But not the whole class even if I do I multitask. On my genius hour project I have completed 5 projects, I chose to do cooking recipes and taking pictures of the food it has been a success so far.
Overall, I think the percentage I deserve in the class is around 75-89%. The percent I give myself for our Genius Hour Project is 80-85% Self regulation: 80-85% Efforts: 90-95%.
Some examples of my best writing personally:
Cass you have done a great job explaining why you have missed classes ad I agree that you work hard to catch up on the days you do attend. I think both of these things show your ability to regulate your own schedule and behavior. I would like to hear more about your thoughts on your writing? Do you think you comprehend what you read? Are you able to get your thoughts across effectively? What is the weakest area of your writing?
ReplyDeleteOn the same note, I am intrigued as to why you think you are in Comm 11 instead of English 11?
Finally... I would like an actual numbe rather than a range for your mark. What exact percent (I know that sounds silly right?) best represents your efforts this year? 75% is a low B... 89% is a mid A?
It depends on my writing skills. If I have a specific topic to talk about or know what I am going to talk about in the post I have the ability to write more then expected. Majority all the times I write I don't have a limit. Whatever is on my mind, I write even if that means 5 to 10 sentences or 30-40 sentences. I really depends on what the questions is being asked or what we need to discuss. Of course I comprehend what I read if I didn't know what I was talking about how would I have the ability to explain or talk about it? Except when we had to talk about the Gladiator movie, I wasn't quite sure how Maxiumus's persona was but I googled it and asked anyone who knew the movie about his persona. I still tried to the best of my ability. Everything else that I write about I comprehend though because it's based on experiences and my thoughts. Yeah I'm pretty sure my thoughts are getting across effectively, it's not like I use words that people cannot understand. The only thing when people read my stuff are my opinions and thoughts and if they don't like the way I put it on my blog then they shouldn't read it LOL. I'm putting my own way, words, and saying my thoughts as long as I'm being real I'm happy with what I post. My weakness in writing is being able to figure out what I wanna talk about or how I'm gonna talk about my topic and back it up along the way.
DeleteI passed rarely last year in English 10 by 50 or 55%? All my teachers say I have potential and all that last year but honestly they're method of teaching, they're rules.. Mm no. Some teachers always go back on what they say, some teachers talk so much on explaining things when they should just get to the point, it frustrated me to the point where by the end of exams I was stuck. That's why, I know I'm not dumb honestly, I could of possibly got an A or B last year if I tried harder then I did. If I did then I wouldn't be where am. I don't mind though but I need English 12 next year for future requirements.
I would say 89% for my effort.
Really the only thing that I would change is giving yourself a exact mark not ranges. but what I've seen in the blog posts that you have posted I would say to give yourself a high mark.- good job :D
