During the last 4 months when I first entered Comm 11 I walked in thinking "this will be one easy semester if all we're gonna discover is ourselves" but as time passed by it didn't get hard but it was a challenge on some days figuring what to write and understanding the purpose of everything we do. Mr Neuf has taught us in this class to be responsible. He won't control us, he won't call our parents to tell us we are missing this and that, at the end of the day that is our responsibility. We need to take actions for ourself, if we don't put as much effort into our writing, not care, and basically take advantage of the fact that our teacher is letting us be "free" as some people might see it.. Then you didn't really learn anything. It's like being indepedent, nobody is gonna tell you what to do, you need do it yourself in order to take a step in your life in being responsible and not just do it for the teacher but for yourself. Nobody is controlling you but yourself, you need to do what is best for you. Think about it.. If you write 3/4 sentences on every post or you have a limit on what to write that isn't learning. Most likely, you're thinking of what to write in the top of your head without thinking, analizing the whole purpose, and just writing whatever you want or feel without any limitations. As Mr Neuf said there aren't any limits in your posts, if you feel thats how much you need to write and are happy with it then leave it, if you wouldn't change anything else in your post and you feel like it's the the best to your ability then leave it. My purpose from being here and experiencing Comm 11 has changed in my attitude about the way I see things, I've learned to take more responsibility on what I have missed, catch up on things even if that takes awhile I need to do it either way because I don't know, I just feel guilty on my mom and dads behalf. All they want from me is to do good in school and if I don't put any effort, any knowledge, I feel like I'm letting them down. I don't like that feelings of dissapointing someone. By using Wiki and Blogs I think it was a great idea. It lets us express ourselves by writing what we feel on how we feel and in the future one day we could look back at this and say "what? that's what I was thinking when I was _ years old" it's cool, in my opinion. I think with learning you need to need to be willing to learn, interested and motivated. My peers have helped me with learning this year with many things. If I miss an class they would explain to me in full detail or try to explain from a perspective I would understand. In my opinion I have helped my peers with learning this year by explaining to their understanding assignments they do not really understand. This second semester has gone by quite quick and I have learned many new things about myself I don't really think about unless I write about it. It has been a great experience having Mr Neuf as one of my teachers and I wouldn't have changed it for anything else. Except, my attendance.. But I can't change that.

Assignment #23: Genius Hour Presentation
On Tuesday, March 11th I presented a cooking demonstartion in the foods room on how to make Egg Tart Pie. Personally, I think I did good but I could've done better. The pie turned out delicious despite the little mistake I did melting the butter rather then leaving it solid, it was good. Funny thing is whenever I make egg tart now I melt the butter instead because it's much easier then leaving it solid. Funny how that works out eh? In my presentation I could've talked more but I didn't know what really to talk about.. I could of learned the purpose of the ingrediants more better, learn more about the product I was making rather then reading the instructions, and talk abit more then I did. Next time, I could be more prepared and educated about the product I was baking but overall, I think I didn't do that bad as expected. I had the materials, I made it work, I anwered questions with no hesitation, and it turned out delicious. Now atleast everyone knows how to make Egg Tart Pie, it's easy and a delicious treat.

Assignment #21: My Typical Day
Weekdays:
7AM until 345PM: Get up, wash my face, put on my clothes, and walk to school (Survival, Fun)
Why? Education is necessary in my opinion, I wouldn't enjoy being paid minimum wage my whole life.
Why? Education is necessary in my opinion, I wouldn't enjoy being paid minimum wage my whole life.
4:00PM until 4:45PM: Home (Belonging)
5:00PM until 6:30/7PM: Gym (Power, Belonging, Fun and Survival-ish?)
Why? Exercise is a daily need in my life, I love the feeling and results it gives me.
7:30PM until 8:30/8:45: Dinner (Survival)
9PM: Shower, head to bed usually on the phone for half an hour. (Fun)
Weekends:
9/10AM until 1-2PM: Gym (Power, Belonging, Fun and Survival-ish?)
Sometimes if not working: 9AM - NEXT DAY: Eat breakfast then head over to my boyfriend's house.
1PM - 6:15PM: Work (Power, Fun, and Independence)
Why? I need to make my own money without relying on my parents, it makes me feel independent and makes me have more freedom.
6:30PM until MIDNIGHT: Go home after work or sometimes head out to hang out with friends or boyfriend. (Fun, Freedom, Independence, and Power (Sometimes)
What do you do on your spare time?
On my spare time I usually go to the gym, spend time with my loved ones, or do homework on what I have been missing the past couple of days. Whenever I am at home every half an hour to an hour I head downstairs to munch on something because I love food, who doesn't? Lately the past couple of days I go for a drive with my dad for an hour practising for my N test, I'm pretty excited but at the same time nervous. I've been doing pretty good lately though, better then the first day at least. (Fun, Power, Belonging, and Independence)
Why do I do these things on my spare time?
Practise makes perfect and I don't want to waste money on my N test, if I am determined to pass I will make that come true. Nothing will stop me. I spend time with my loved ones, go to the gym, and do my homework because homework is necessary in my thoughts, how am I gonna maintain my good grades if I slack off? I've stated above why I go to the gym and I spend time with my loved ones because family, boyfriend, and my main circle of friends are what keep me going in life. (Fun, Independence, and Belonging)
What/Why do I do when I skip?
To be honest I don't really ever skip, my dad and mom's schedule at work lately have been quite busy and they don't have anybody to babysit my brother so then I offer and take over. These past couple days have been rough because I have been missing a lot of days in my fourth and fifth block but I always try to look at the websites on both and do my work so that I am not behind, only my attendance is. (Fun): Being able to hang out with my little brother and spend time with him before I move out.
Is you're clothing choice for belonging to a group or freedom to stand out?
What I choose to wear to school and how I look is for nobody, it's just my style, what I like, and who I am. If anybody had a negative opinion to say then I could care less, I'd rather then not say anything at all if they have nothing positive to say. How does that benefit your life whatsoever?
Are any of your choices a "negative" way to fulfil your needs?
Honestly, I don't think any of the choices I make in life are negative. I try my best to be productive through out my day because it makes me feel like I have accomplished something and not just sit on my butt doing nothing at all. (Power, Belonging, and Fun)

Assignment #20:
Anywhere you go you see cliques and groups of people either if it's at a party, school, or even in movies. The previous movie we have watched and been lately often discussing about is called Hotel Rwanda. Hotel Rwanda can also relate to having "cliques" or "groups" except they were called The Hutus and The Tutsis which we're two groups that we're separated and divided because of the way they were treated by outsides and also each other. The Tutsi's were perceived to have greater wealth and social, they were Belgins "favourite" because they had similarities between one another and The Hutus were nothing, this angered The Hutus.
I've been at Sullivan for almost 2 1/2 years now, I arrived last year during late October during the past 2 1/2 years I have been here I have noticed Sullivan Heights "cliques" or "groups" change every now and then. Personally in my opinion groups get chosen at Sullivan based on personality, how long you've been at the school, first impressions, how you approach people, and "elementary school days". Outside influences would increase AND decrease the tension between the groups and cliques at Sullivan because every body's actions and reactions are different from one another. Yes, their are many outside influences but not just at Sullivan it could be anywhere you go or anywhere you are ex) television, locations, peers. Since they're are many cliques and groups at school each one don't all have the same values, everyone has their own. As a group or as "one" each and every group might value respect more then trust or trust more then loyalty, I'm not quite sure on their values because I don't really have a clique at school so I'm not the one to judge, I have my main few I trust and there is only 1 girl at the school who is part of that. Their are MANY people in this school who are judge mental, many and that is one reason why random people you don't know will randomly have their name in your mouth and dislike you right off the bat before introducing yourself. I would 80-85% of the schools population bases their opinion of "others" rather then getting to know them because I've witnessed it plenty of times with my own eyes. Many rumours, half truths, bullying, propaganda, racism, etc are always going around the school either it's a good or bad thing it won't ever stop even if you were to do something about it because in the end you'll get bullied yourself. All these messages that get spread through Sullivan are from friends whose friends told their friends and it just keeps going on and on and on.. There is no dead end to the line. In my opinion I don't think anything will stop people from keeping their mouth running unless sometimes they're confronted or ignored but then again you don't know the outcome of the situation. The situation could get better or unfortunately for some, worse. High school will never change, it never has. Rumours are caused by judge mental people, and lets face it teenagers especially in this generation use their mouth not their brain, its ridiculous how some people can't face the fact high school is apart of life and once your finished half your friends you thought that were there for you are gone. Everyone moves on with their lives, the ones who were there for you in the beginning will stick with you through the roughest times. It's such a waste of energy judging people and later on such a regret putting people down because in the end you don't know who they are and how much it could effect them in the end of they day.
Personal story:
A few years ago when I was in grade 9 I judged many people on their appearance, who they hung out with, stories, and rumours. If I could rewind time and take back the evil biznatch I was before then trust me, I would but unfortunately I can't. Their was a time in grade 6 where I was considered one of the "popular" girls in elementary but not for the right reasons. I was a good girl though but the girls I hung around with weren't so good. In fact they we're horrible they would consume alcohol in grade 6 at school dances, smoke, and turned me into a bully. I got into the wrong crowd. I didn't smoke or drink until grade 8 but I did turn into someone I look back at now who was a bully and say "I wish I could of done things more differently". In grade 6 my best friend, Gabby Gendron who I hide when I was younger because I cared so much on my "friends" opinions and judgements used to hate me. Funny how things work out eh? I used to bully Gabby until the point where I made her cry every day going home, spread rumours about, and just pretty much make most of her elementary school days horrible. How did I find this out? The last month before school ended and I was graduating I went up to Gabby and apologised for my actions and putting her down right when I told her she hugged me and told me how much it effected her all those school years. Until today Gabby and I are closer then peanut butter and jelly, I am truly blessed to have a sister like her who is there for me through thick and thin.
Personal story:
The first year I entered Sullivan Heights I was judged right off the bat. I didn't know anyone in the school but some how people knew me, apparently. As I started to get to know people and introducing myself I got a lot of "If you never introduced yourself to me I would of thought you were a stuck up bitch", "You look like a typical Asian", "I thought you were a slut but your the complete opposite", or "She's so caked, she's just so fake". It never phased me all the judgements people thought of me but it just sucked their wasn't one person in the school who didn't even take the time to get to know me. I've never let anything get to me especially from people I rarely knew but as time grew it made me realise how I should change my ways as well on judging people who dress inappropriately because that is who they are and that is how they choose to dress. Over the past years being judged and having rumours spread about me the only motto I go by every day is "be the type of person you want to meet". Ever since I have been using that as my motto the past 2 years my group of acquaintances have increased and I have became more approachable to people. If feels good knowing people aren't intimidated by you or scared, that's the the type of vibe I want people to come across from me. A few months ago I was at a parent teacher meeting and I saw this girl that has been in a couple of my classes, her baby sister was the cutest thing and we just engaged in conversation. 10 minutes into the conversation she goes "you're a really sweet and nice girl, I wouldn't have guessed" I don't know why but it made me smile, it made me feel good about myself because that is the type of person I am unless you get on my bad side. If people wouldn't judge people so often and just get to know them the world would be a different place and their would be more friends then enemies.

Short Story Relating to Assignment #18
Assignment #18: http://cassyolazo.blogspot.ca/2013/05/relation-to-hotel-rwanda-kony-2012.html
On August 18, 2001 a small town girl from Abbot, Texas named Belinda White arrived to Los Angela's, California to meet her new sponsor parents George and Barbra Harrington. George and Barbra have been happily married for 10 years without any children of their own and are both hotel business owners who work as a team. Five months ago Barbra and George visited the doctor because the two have been having difficuluty having children for the past 5 years, Barbra's worst fear was not being able to have kids and unfortunetly her worst fear came true. Barbra was infertile, which meant she was unable to produce any children. No matter how many treatments she has tried nothing ever possibly worked but that is when Belinda entered George and Barbra's life. After recieveing the dissapointing news from the doctor George turned his head to Barbra while holding her hand "Look at me hun and smile, everything will be perfectly fine. People go through just as worse everyday then us, would you want to adopt a child? One little move can make an impact in the world. Everybody needs a family." Barbra looked at George and smiled "Your right" she said while giving him a kiss on the cheek "When aren't I?" he responded while chuckling. Afew days later while Barbra was surfing the internet to adopt a child she came across an 9 year old girl, blonde hair and blue eyes named Belinda White who caught her attention like a shooting star, "George! Come here, quick quick!" as George raced downstairs with panik due to his wife's voice he responded "What!?" "Belinda White. A small town girl from Abott, Texas whom survived an tragic car accident but unfortunetly lost both of her parents." she said while reading off the website "Can we? Please? One little move can make an impact in the world, right?" George smiled and agreed "Okay, fill out what you need and call them". The next morning the phone rang "Hello?" George asked "Hello, my name is Regina Ferguson and I am calling in regards to Belinda White. I have recieved a phone call last night from your wife Barbra because you two were intrested in adopting I believe?" "Yes, thank you for returning my phone call Regina. Is their anything else we need to fill out? "Nope, not at all. Belinda is very excited to meet you both. She will be waiting at the Los Angelas airport on August 18, 2001 at 10am." "In 2 days?!" George asked with full of surprise "Yes. Talk to you soon, have a great day and thank you again. God bless." "Hunny! Hunny! Belinda is coming in two days" George yelled with excitment, Barbra hugged George tightly with love and whispered "WHAT? So soon, I'm so excited. Thank you.. For everything." Early that morning on August 18 at 9am George woke up with Barbra on the edge of the bed jumping "What're you doing?" George asked "I'm just to excited to meet Belinda, I can't sleep. Get up, lets be abit early." George sighs "Okay, okay." As they arrive at the airport they see an little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes holding a sign saying "George and Barbra Harrington" Barbra grabbed George's hand and rushed towards Belinda "Hi Belinda, we are your sponser parents Barbra and George Harrington, pleasure to meet you. Are you hungry? How're you? How was your trip?" Belinda giggled "Yes I am. Pleasure to meet you, good, to many questions. Could we talk over breakfast?" George and Barbra smiled and replied "Yes. We are too excited, sorry, let's go." Once breakfast was over Belinda, George, and Barbra returned back home. "Welcome home, Belinda, let us show you your room" Barbra said, Belinda followed Barbra upstairs and began crying. "Thank you for saving me, for everything" Barbra was in complete shock "What sweetie? Save you?" she responded "Yeah, save me.. I didn't loose my parents in a car accident, they abandoned me. One rainy afternoon my parents randomly told me I would be staying at a camp. I was confused. I wanted to be at home but I knew if I even tried arguing or refusing to leave it wouldn't help the situation either way. During the whole car ride I was confused, I was sad, the past couple weeks I was at home everything was going well.. I didn't know what I was doing wrong but what am I to know? I'm was just a 7 year old girl slowly begining my path in life. Finally, after a few long hours of driving we came towards a camp it was called "Escalvo Camp"" "What? Escalvo? Sweetie, are you sure it's called escalvo? Escalvo means slave in spanish. My mother used to teach spanish and when she would come home she would teach me words here and there." Barba said "At the time no, I didn't know escalvo meant but once I arrived to the camp nobody needed to tell me anything, the children looked like slaves. Everyone was working on something, either chopping wood from trees, digging, it was not a pleasent sight at all. It was all an act, it was weird, once you arrive to the front eveything looks so joyful, their are so many beautiful colors, swings in the front.. I was actually excited until once I signed in and the owner told me to change my clothes and head to the back. It was horrible mom" Belinda said while tearing up "It was horrible.. They're were kids chopping up wood from trees, digging dirt in the back, some kids were preparing food in the back.. I think that was the only thing I enjoyed. Anyways, enough about my life story I wanted to thank you for saving me from there. No child is saved unless sponsored by two wonderful people which is very rare. The two women named Regina and Bernice at the front are such kind ladies, they are the ones who try to save us, they're the ones who made this whole sponsor a child website but if the goverment or owner found it they would get in a lot of trouble so, please mom don't tell a word, okay? Promise?" "Okay sweetie, how about I spread the word and hopefully we could get all those children saved? Would you like to help me?" Barbra asked, Belinda smiled and agreed while Barbra ran downstairs telling her husband George who fell alseep downstairs. 5 years later the word was spread all across America. Barbra and Belinda created a new organization called "Save A Child" they travaled the world together spreading the word across and making people aware with flyers, videos of awareness on Youtube with currently 110, 316, 010 views, games for donations to help, and t-shirts that would help spread the word even more then it already was while George stayed in Los Angelas managing the hotel. Unfortunetly, the word didn't get to far out because the government was aware of their organization. They tried to the best of their ability stop Belinda and Barbra but that didn't stop them both. Barbra and Belinda went along with the goverments decisions but still went around their neighbourhood having little meetings here and there, they even created a FaceBook event that was held in their house which went quite successul. Until this day Belinda and Barbra still work as a team and are aware of other child and slave labor organizations. "One little move can make a difference in the world" is what Belinda, George, and Barbras motto is until now.

Relation to Hotel Rwanda: Kony 2012
I chose Kony 2012 as an relation to the theme of the movie Hotel Rwanda made in 2004. I selected
Kony 2012 because it relates to propaganda, political issues, violence, drugs, people trying to save their families, abduction, and murder. Although Hotel Rwanda doesn't involve with abduction their are many similarities between Kony and Hotel Rwanda; the reason why I chose to do Kony as my topic. Exactly one year and two months ago as I was scrolling through my Tumblr dashboard I came across a 30 minute length video called "Kony 2012" with
1, 316, 096 re-blogs and today 97, 445, 408 views on YouTube. I thought to myself what is this? As I clicked the video I didn't realize I was a quarter way done the video. Many people kept telling me "It's fake, don't believe them. They're just trying to take your money" but I did my research and as my brain and heart believed in the beginning it was completely true. Watching the video it honestly touched my heart. Seeing and hearing that many children were abducted, drugged by Joseph Kony and were handed a gun to kill their parents and Jacob Acaye whose brother was killed by the LRA story made me want to take action and help them. It made me really furious when John Prendergast the creator of this all tried taking his actions further by asking the government to help them spread the word so people are more aware but the government responded with "There is nothing I can do since this takes place in Uganda and is not associated in the United States". So? Then take action and try to communicate with the connections you have to help stop this nonsense. With the good heart he has he understood the governments response and took action himself with family and friends to spread the word even further by using the internet as their main source. The internet boomed. The word spread like crazy. Friends told friends who told family who told friends who told family and friends and the list goes on. By the time many people in the world were aware their were campaigns, advertisements, donations etc to help the families and children in Uganda it was really starting to make a difference from where they first started. The reason why it is called Kony 2012 is because 2012 was their last chance to try and capture Kony before more danger is done and runs off. Unfortunately, Kony was not captured because he made new plans right away when he heard the military was searching from him to be captured. This really made me realize "Wow, what else could be happening in the world? Possibly even as worse then Kony 2012" just like the same reaction as I watched the movie Hotel Rwanda, what else could have happened or what else is happening in the world we don't know? It's scary but ever since I have been aware, cautious, and curious on what is happening in the world.

Hotel Rwanda Questions
1. What caused two tribes of people who lived in peace for hundreds of years to build up hatred for one another?
The conflict between the two tribes The Hutus and The Tutsis arised with such hatred due to Belgium wanted one of the tribes that "looked" more European. The Belgium's put the The Tutsis in responsibility. The Hutus were furious with the inequality and how they were mistreated that they wanted revenge which lead them to kill the Tutsis.
2. What reasons do they describe for their dislike?
Their was ethnic tension between the two groups. The Tutsis were better then The Hutu, hate started to build up that killing was in the Hutus minds. Overall, the main reason was The Hutus felt hate and resentment.
3. How is the hatred spread?
The hatred was spread by propaganda. Propaganda could be for the better or worse and was used to harm The Tutsis. They used propaganda over radio which everyone listened to in town.
4. How did they justify the horrible things they do?
They justify the horrible things they do by bringing in the UN (United Nations) and help from local police.
5. What similarities from other countries or historical events do you see?
At the end of World War II, North Korea started building concentration camps, just like the Nazis, where they send “political criminals.” They don’t just send individuals either; if you commit what Kim-Jong il deems criminal, you and your whole family are sent to these camps for the rest of your life. There you will have barely any food or none, if you don’t work hard enough. You are forced to work as a slave in often dangerous working conditions, you run the risk of being raped or experimented on, you will likely be tortured, and you are more likely to die than ever be released or escape. This information is similar to the movie Hotel Rwanda because women of Tutsis were being raped for being their cast. Women of Tutsis were being tortured for example) Pregnant women would get their stomach slit open, while the Hutu men took out the baby and killed it right in front of their mothers eyes.

Genuis Hour Plan
For my genius hour project I have been learning new recipes my dad has learnt through his years and been posting it on my main genius hour project named "Genius Hour Project: Cassy's Recipes". My dad is currently teaching me new healthy recipes, how to prepare, portion, cook, and bbq properly. For my genius hour project I will be demonstrating to the class how to cook. The dish I will be cooking for the class with remain a surprise until the day I present to everyone. I will be asking people to volunteer to help as well and be apart of my presentation. The presentation will most likely be next week or the following week after and I will be bringing my own ingrediants and veggies, etc on my own. I'm pretty excited for this presentation because I love cooking in general when i'm at home, to make time go by, when i'm hungry or when i'm bored. Hope your all looking forward to it.

My total & Total owning
Through out this first semester I have been late once but I have missed multiple classes due to babysitting my brother because my dad isn't home until 8 and my mom would leave the house around 2:30 to head to work. I knew with the new bell schedule this would interfere with my period 5 class but that is why I discussed this with Mr. Neuf in the beginning of the year. My parents tried talking to the principal but unfortunately they could not do anything about the situation since communications is only in period 5. Other times which have been 3-4 I have left due to my work scheduling but I have discussed the manager school comes first therefor, I am only available starting at 5. Besides the attendance situation whatever I have missed that day I look on the website and complete or if I don't understand the assignment I leave it off due it to the best of my ability and ask the teacher or my friend to explain to my understanding. Whenever we have an assignment I always due it to the best of my ability, I put all my effort, and re read it over just in case I have any grammar mistakes. In class I rarely am talkative, I talk.. But not the whole class even if I do I multitask. On my genius hour project I have completed 5 projects, I chose to do cooking recipes and taking pictures of the food it has been a success so far.
Overall, I think the percentage I deserve in the class is around 75-89%. The percent I give myself for our Genius Hour Project is 80-85% Self regulation: 80-85% Efforts: 90-95%.
